Ask Me Then

Ask Me Then

Would you rather have love lost or have never loved at all?
A tortured songwriter I am and I need my misery to write songs…do I not?!

‘I’ve tasted love before
The sweet on my tongue leaves me wanting more….

If you ask me if I’d rather have love lost or not at all

Ask me when my heart’s not so broken by the fall
Ask me when I’m over hating love and only then
Ask me then.’

If you are of the kind that has lost love, what taste has it left on your tongue? Have you grown more vulnerable in a good way? More flexible and willing to compromise? Not settle for, but knowing what you can live with and not live without.

The height of my being ‘in love’ was the height of my life.
The depth of that love lost was the deepest of pains.
It’s too late for me to even have a choice….I’ve had love…I’ve lost love. That’s it. Now, my choice is to love again, or not. I’m hoping I also have no choice in that decision. I believe that love will choose me.

Love and loss have brought me to know what I want, and more importantly, what I don’t want.

What I want?

As I stand against the wall in the gymnasium like a high school girl at the prom, I wait, for ‘the one’ who will ask me to dance.

What I don’t want?

As I stand against the wall in the gymnasium like a high school girl at the prom, I wait, for ‘the one’ to come and ask me to dance with his weird nerdy friend who no one likes.
